THE Central University of Technology (CUT) has reaffirmed its commitment to partner the provincial government in various initiatives aimed at developing the Free State and uplifting its people.
The institution has over the years collaborated with the provincial government on programmes such as the Provincial 4IR Summit, Provincial Research Colloquium and Well-Done Function Project.
In her congratulatory message to Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae upon her election to the highest office in the province, CUT vice-chancellor and principal Professor Pamela Dube said her university was looking forward to collaborating with the provincial government on various areas that contribute to the Free State’s socio-economic development.
“As you enter your new leadership role, we want to reaffirm the university community’s solid support for the premier and the province,” she said.
“The Central University of Technology is very proud to be a key partner to the provincial government on numerous programmes that are aligned with our applied research agenda.”
Among the most recent collaborations is the pothole eradication programme that saw the CUT training 650 young people on maintaining and repairing roads.
That initiative was implemented last year when Letsoha-Mathae was still serving as the MEC for Community Safety, Roads and Transport.
“One of the remarkable current projects is the pothole eradication programme, which was led by the premier while holding the Community Safety, Roads and Transport portfolio, and we are grateful for your leadership on this initiative and the progress that has been achieved,” Professor Dube said.
The CUT vice-chancellor also hailed Letsoha-Mathae for her commitment to improving service delivery in the Free State and ensuring tangible progress is achieved in the province.
“In addition, your relentless pursuit of effective governance and service delivery, your courageous stance against gender violence, and your commitment to creating a better world for women and children are unique leadership qualities that resonate with the CUT community and have significantly impacted the province’s pulse and narrative,” Professor Dube said.
“We pledge our continued commitment to work together and support your endeavours and to achieve meaningful progress in the province.” – Staff Reporter
