The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Bethlehem has launched a manhunt for a couple believed to have duped several people in an alleged bogus investment scheme two years ago.
The Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Christopher Singo said Albert David Titus and Bonolo Millicent Titus are persons of interest in the failed scheme and appealed to the public to assist in locating them.
The victims are believed to have lost over half-a-million rands.
“It is alleged that in 2020, the victims invested their money into a bogus investment scheme with a promise of getting interest return after a period of 30 days,” said Singo in a statement.
“The victims did not receive their money as promised and the suspects are no longer available at their place of business in Ladybrand. As a result, the victims suffered a total loss of more than R600 000,” he added.
Singo said anyone with information that may assist the police in locating the two may contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Sidwell Mpholo, on 082 372 0386.
He said all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality. – Staff Reporter
