A Bloemfontein man is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Thursday facing charges of killing his parents and a sibling.
Police say they were alerted to a domestic homicide at 206 Raymond Mhlaba Street in Bloemfontein at about 9:15am on Tuesday.
On arrival, they found three bodies in the house.
The deceased were a 68-year-old father, 65 year-old-mother and their 40-year-old son.
“They were found in the bedrooms with gunshot wounds to the head,” the police said in a statement.
A revolver allegedly used in the shooting was placed on top of the woman’s body.
“The 42-year-old son and sibling to the deceased was arrested and will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Thursday.”
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, police said a Harrismith farmer was attacked on Monday by a 22-year-old man who had posed as someone looking for work.
And when the 81-year-old owner of Christina Farm told the suspect he did not have any jobs available, the man left.
But yesterday, at about 7:15pm, the man went back to the farm and found the farmer attending to a generator outside the house as there was loadshedding.
It is alleged the man then attacked the farmer with a stick.
“A caretaker staying with the farmer heard the noise and went to investigate. He found the old man being beaten by the man and tried to intervene but the man turned on him,” the police said.
The farmer’s son arrived and managed to restrain the suspect.
The farmer sustained injuries and was rushed to Busamed Hospital while the suspect was taken to Thebe District Hospital in Harrismith.
The suspect will be charged with housebreaking and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm for attacking the farmer and his caretaker, aged 56.
