The Central University of Technology (CUT) has appointed Professor Pamela Dube as vice-chancellor and principal with effect from January 1 next year.
Dube is presently serving as deputy vice-chancellor for student development and support at the University of Western Cape.
In a statement released Monday, the CUT described Dube as an accomplished academic who is bringing her vast knowledge and experience in the higher education sector to the Free State institution.
The university said she has demonstrated her ability to build partnerships and lead strategic engagements in various levels, including student leadership development support initiatives.
“Prof Dube has initiated effective relationship-building approaches with academic, governmental, and business partners as well as public communications skills,” read part of the statement.
“She also brings a wealth of experience and passion in working with students who remain the number one priority at CUT.
“She brings this entire tapestry of talents and experience necessary to drive the 2030 Vision to its fruition.
“She is an accomplished leader in academia, having attained her numerous qualifications from various national and international universities.”
A graduate of the University of Siegen in Germany, Dube lived and worked at the same university after completing her doctoral degree.
The CUT said acting vice-chancellor and principal Professor Alfred Ngowi will continue to provide his leadership role to the institution until the end of December 2022. – Staff Reporter
