Two police stations in the Free State have been temporarily closed after cases of COVID-19 were reported at the two centres.
The affected police stations, Mafube in Frankfort and Maokeng in Kroonstad, have to be disinfected before they can be reopened to the public.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Sam Makhele said in a statement sent out Monday that communities serviced by Mafube police may access services from Park-home situated on the premises of the police station.
“The station will undergo decontamination and affected members will be subjected to necessary COVID-19-related protocols,” he said.
Makhele said those in Maokeng will be assisted from the detectives’ offices along Manis Street, Seeisoville, Kroonstad.
“Communities served by Maokeng police station are advised that the station is closed after a member tested positive for COVID-19,” he said.
