Only two of the four people arrested at the weekend in connection with the killing of a farmer in Hennenman remain in custody after one was released by the police while the other allegedly committed suicide.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Sam Makhele said the suspect was released after police realised the woman could not be directly linked to the crime.
“. . . the third one was released after she could not be positively linked to the crime,” he said in a statement released on Monday.
Makhele said one of the suspects, Tshidiso Patrick Bochedi, 36, appeared briefly before the Hennenman Magistrates Court on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and house robbery.
The case was postponed to November 16 for further investigations.
The accused, according to Makhele, will also make an application for bail during that appearance.
“The second suspect is due to appear in court on Wednesday, 11 November,” he said.
The fourth suspect, aged 47, was found hanging in a police cell following their arrest on Friday night.
Pieter Hills, 56, was found dead at his farm in Swartpan in the early hours of Friday while his 26-year-old son escaped with injuries after being stabbed on his back during the attack.
More arrests are expected as investigations into the farm attack continue.
