PREMIER MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae has lauded the Free State’s remarkable performance in the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, emphasising that the consistent academic success reflects a collective commitment to excellence in education.
In her congratulatory message, she expressed immense pride in the Free State’s achievement of a 91.0 percent pass rate, which once again secured the province’s top spot nationally.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that the Free State has led the country in matric results.
“Quality education lifts people out of poverty and unlocks their potential,” Letsoha-Mathae said.
“We are proud of our number one spot as the best-performing province in the country since 2019.
“The Grade 12 Class of 2024 achieved a pass rate of 91 percent, reclaiming the number one position in the country again.
“This was a commitment as declared in the opening of the legislature address last year.
“Our aspirations in the next five years remain to simply be the best, and to be simply excellent.”
The premier acknowledged the efforts of all key stakeholders in the education sector who contributed to the province’s success.
She specifically commended the MEC for Education, Dr MJ Maboya, and the entire education department for their dedication to improving educational outcomes.
“Congratulations to the MEC for Education, Dr MJ Maboya, and her department, teachers, learners, parents School Governing Bodies and stakeholders who are all important to our education achievements,” she said. – Staff Reporter
