SOUTH African kwaito legend Victor Bogopane, widely known as Doc Shebeleza, has died.
He was 51.
Family spokesperson Shakes Mavundla confirmed the music icon passed away at his home on Thursday morning.
“He had visited his family earlier this morning and was preparing for a second operation scheduled for Monday,” he was quoted as saying by News24.
Although the exact cause of death remains undisclosed, it was confirmed that the veteran musician had been undergoing medical treatment and was due to return to hospital next week.
Doc Shebeleza, whose career spanned decades, leaves behind a rich musical legacy that transcended generations.
Best known for hits that defined the kwaito era, his influence on South African music is undeniable.
He is survived by his nine children – six sons and three daughters – who now carry forward his memory.
