A statement from the Free State provincial health department said all the deceased and critically injured were travelling in the car while some of the bus passengers were treated on the scene.

“Two – an adult and a child – suffered critical injuries. Six were declared dead on the scene. These were two infants, one teen and three adults.”
The bus was carrying about 58 passengers who were treated and observed for shock and later transported to the Bloemfontein Tourism Centre.
